An Evening of Talks With Dr Linda King and The Stone Twins

In conjunction with the exhibition Come Fly With Me: Aviation, Tourism and Irish Design, the National Print Museum and Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands bring together historic and contemporary connections between Ireland and the Netherlands for Design Week 2026.

The current exhibition uses flight as a central thread to explore how design and print helped promote Irish modernisation and position Ireland internationally. With the arrival of a number of Dutch graphic designers to Ireland in the 1950s to work on advertising for Aer Lingus, depictions of Ireland and Irishness were forever changed, as was Ireland’s relationship to Continental Europe and the US. Their design work was recognised internationally and had a huge impact on Irish design and economic development.

Dr Linda King, curator of the exhibition, will present her research into the fascinating relationship between aviation, tourism and design, exploring how these connections have shaped Ireland’s visual and cultural identity.

Declan Stone of The Stone Twins, an award-winning creative brand consultancy based in Amsterdam, will discuss their contemporary practice and distinctive approach to design. Their work brings together the visual and the verbal, combining strategy and creativity with personality and wit.
