02 Sep Culture Night 2020
This Culture Night you can experience the National Print Museum online or onsite!
Part 1, Virtual Museum Tour and Online Print Demo
Ever seen a Linotype in action? Or heard the sound of the Heidelberg printing? Head online for a virtual tour of this unique museum – the only one of its kind in Ireland. The main collection is not behind glass or rope, but is instead an example of a working collection, consisting of fully-operational letterpress printing equipment, displayed and organised like a traditional 1960s print-shop. With input from Print Ambassadors and volunteers, the museum will come to life from the comfort of your home.
Event from 4pm. No booking required, link to follow soon!
Part 2, Be the first to see the new exhibition “Locked Up in Lockdown” opening on Culture Night
A new exhibition exploring art and design “locked up” and printed during lockdown in Ireland. The exhibition will feature work by Maser, Annie Atkins, One Strong Arm, Richard Seabrooke and Damn Fine Print. The works have brought joy during the global pandemic and raised funds for worthwhile charities. There will also be a chance to view ‘A Photographic Celebration of the Chapel,’ a photographic exhibition celebrating the printers and compositors dedicated to preserving the craft of letterpress printing at the museum. Places are limited and advanced booking is necessary.
Event from 6pm to 9pm. Booking essential, limited places due to COVID-19 restrictions.
