FAQs
Yes! General admission to the Museum is completely free. We have self-guided booklets in English and Irish for you to use during your visit. As we are a charity, donations are always welcome.
We also have guided tour options available at a small cost. You can check out the options and availability by clicking the ‘Book Tours’ button at the top of this page. The guided tour is very interactive and comes highly recommended by visitors.
If you are visiting as an individual or with your family, there’s no need to book ahead. We do require groups of 10 or more people to contact us in advance to book, so we can ensure that your visit does not clash with any group tours or other events. We cannot facilitate self-guided groups of over 10 under-18s to the Museum.
If you would like to book a tour, you can do so by clicking the ‘Book Tours’ button at the top of this page. Groups can book a private tour by contacting us directly; at least 2 week’s notice is recommended.
Yes, we offer both public and private guided tours, and they come highly recommended by visitors! Tours of the Museum are very interactive and allow everyone to get involved with printing. Public tours are offered daily around lunchtime; you can check availability by clicking the ‘Book Tours’ button at the top of this page.

We are in the old chapel building of the Barracks, which is located in the back-right corner of the complex. Enter the Barracks from the archway on Haddington Road and follow the footpath to the right and back to find us.
We have self-guided tour booklets in English and Irish, and small welcome booklets in English, Irish, Spanish, Italian, French and German.

Yes! You are welcome to take as many photos as you like, and make sure to tag us on social media. Please ask your tour guide or any other Museum staff for permission before taking photos of them. For commercial photography or filming queries, please contact us.
Yes, there are baby changing facilities in the public toilet.
There is no dedicated storage area for buggies, however there is often space outside in the bicycle parking area or inside the Museum behind the stairs.
You are welcome to bring covered drinks into the Museum building and around the ground floor. Please refrain from bringing drinks of any kind into the temporary exhibition space on the mezzanine level.
We ask that all food is consumed before your visit or outside the Museum. We have a few benches outside for your convenience. Only refreshments purchased in the Café can be consumed in the Café.
Pets are not allowed in the Museum, however we welcome guide and service animals. You can find more details on our Accessibility page. The Café is pet friendly.
The free library bench is located outside of the front entrance of the Museum building. You are very welcome to ‘take a book > leave a book’!
Workshops
Yes! We run a regular workshop programme, offering courses in letterpress, linocut, and woodblock printing, as well as calligraphy, bookbinding, and other related crafts. We also offer printing workshops for children and families. Check out our What’s On page to see what’s coming up.
If you are interested in booking a private workshop for a small group, family or individual, please contact us.
Yes! We have a number of options for team-building workshops, from one hour to a full day depending on group size. If you are interested, please contact us with the number of people in your group and we will send you the options. We recommend at least three week’s notice.
We would love to come to your school, place of work, local library, or festival with our pop-up printing activities. Learn more about our robust offsite programme on our Outreach page. Several week’s notice is usually required to arrange offsite activities.
Shop
We will post your order within three business days of the order being placed. We cannot guarantee how long delivery will take once the order has been dispatched. Orders outside of the EU can take longer due to customs processing times.
If your order has arrived damaged, please contact us with photos of the damage and we will arrange a replacement or refund.
If you wish to return your order, you can contact us within 14 days of receiving your order and post it back to us. A refund will be issued once we receive the item(s). We cannot refund shipping costs or cover return postage costs.
Most of the prints in our online shop have been handset and printed at the Museum. A small number of prints have been made by local letterpress artists. The books in our online shop have been published by the Museum and printed commercially in the Dublin area.

Collection
Thank you! While we would love to accept all collection items offered, we have very limited space and every new acquisition must be approved by our Curatorial Committee. Please complete this online form regarding your item(s), and we will then send the details to the Committee for consideration. The Committee meet every couple of months, so we will be in touch regarding the decision. If you have any issues completing the form, contact us directly.

Working With Us

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please contact us directly and let us know what type of work you are interested in doing with us. If there are volunteering opportunities available, we’ll be in touch with a volunteer application form.
We have a limited number of work placements for students pursuing postgraduate programmes in fields related to heritage, history, and design. Please contact us if you are interested, noting that our capacity is very limited and placement spots fill up quickly.
We have a limited number of week-long TY placements per academic year. Contact us directly if you are interested.
