Wharfedale Stop Cylinder Press

Description

Very large black stop-cylinder press with a forme on a flat bed. The forme moves side-to-side as the hand-fed paper cylnder above turns to create an impression. This type of press was often used in newspaper production and was dubbed the "workhorse" of the printing industry. The earliest models were steam-powered, but most were converted to electricity.
