235 Miehle Vertical Small Press
Description
Robert Miehle, born in the Midwest in 1860, worked as a pressman in his brother’s print shop in Chicago. In 1921 he launched the Miehle Vertical Press which was a type of flat-bed cylinder press which stood with the bed perpendicular to the ground instead of parallel to it. This design allowed the press to take up less space on a printing shop floor. Although it was initially received with some sceptisim, it went on to become a popular design.
