‘Come Fly with Me’ Response Print

€45.00

Category:

This letterpress print was designed by Niall McCormack in response to the exhibition Come Fly with Me: Aviation, tourism, and Irish design. It was then printed by Mary Plunkett on the National Print Museum’s Vandercook proofing press. Come Fly With Me examines Irish cultural history through the exploration of aviation- and tourism-related graphic design. It focuses on the 1940s through to the 1960s, a period that marked the golden era of international aviation expansion.

Title: Aeróg Éireann – Aerial Ireland

A note from the designer, Niall McCormack: “For the design of the print I drew on visual iconography from elements in the exhibition – time tables, tickets and luggage tags – as well as from my own collection of travel labels. I wanted to capture a sense of the Irish air travel experience through a simple yet evocative visual shorthand. The piece was expertly printed in two colours by Mary Plunkett on the Vandercook Proofing Press.”

This print is part of a limited edition of 50. Each is numbered and signed by the designer.
