Sunday 3 November, 10.30 – 16.30, €80, max 6 people
In this workshop, participants will create a sewn hardback book called a dos-à-dos book: a binding where two or more separate books are bound together. This unusual binding makes an excellent sketchbook, journal or artist’s book. Using simple sewing techniques, participants will be encouraged to develop their own distinctive bookbinding, ones that can expand and evolve in unexpected ways. Participants will also gain knowledge of how to use basic book binding tools and the principals of bookbinding including grain direction, gluing and folding tips. All are encouraged to bring along any ideas, decorative paper or drawings that they would like to incorporate into their books. All other materials will be supplied.
