Heritage Week 2025

National Heritage Week, an initiative by the Heritage Council, celebrates all things heritage. It brings together communities, families, organisations, cultural institutions, academics and enthusiasts, to build awareness about the value of heritage and support its conservation.
This year, Heritage Week falls from 16 to 24 August 2025 and the theme is “Exploring our Foundations”. Here is a round-up of the events taking place at the National Print Museum – all free of charge. We hope you will join us in this national celebration of Ireland’s rich cultural, built, and natural heritage!
Join Dr Linda King for a Curator’s Tour of the exhibition ‘Poster Boys: the work of Kevin Scally and Brendan Foreman for the Abbey Theatre’ on Saturday 16 August. Fully booked.
Discover how the printing press changed the world on one of the Historical Guided Tours, offered Tuesday to Friday.
Travel back in time to experience what it was like to be a young apprentice printer on a Family-Friendly Tours, offered Tuesday to Thursday. Fully booked.
On Friday, 22 August, Documentation Project Manager Dr Aoife Cosgrove will deliver a talk “Collection Close-Ups“. Dr Cosgrove will provide a behind-the-scenes look at her work and highlight a number of treasures from the collection, including some which have never before been on public display. Fully booked.
On Saturday 23 August, the Museum will host a special event showcasing an important aspect of Ireland’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. Participants will witness live demonstrations and have a chance to contribute to a print celebrating the 2025 theme of Heritage Week. There will also be a print station for little printers! This is a drop-in event and no booking needed.
