Calligraphy and Decorative Illustration with Sarah O’Dea

This workshop will be an opportunity to combine calligraphy lettering with decorative illustration. The workshop will cover an introduction to calligraphy with an emphasis on flourishing letters and incorporating illustrations into your design.

We will begin by using the nib & ink to practise calligraphy, then we will sketch out a simple border to frame our calligraphy. Using ink & paint we will then add colour and illustration to our border.  By the end of the workshop, each participant will have a piece that they will have started and can continue to work on and add to.

No previous experience of calligraphy or illustration is necessary. This will be an enjoyable afternoon with lots of help and inspiration provided by Sarah who will bring lots of reference illustrations and provide tips and help throughout. Includes all materials. This workshop is conducted in the portable cabin outside the main Museum building, which is wheelchair-accessible by ramp.
