The FÁS Local Training Initiative/National Print Museum Heritage Project is running since 1997. It is a combined training and work experience project. The project is 40 weeks in duration, with fourteen training places available. Training is ongoing throughout the 40 weeks and the National Print Museum provides relevant work experience for course participants during the duration of the training programme.
The National Print Museum is working with
FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council) to offer programmes leading to FETAC awards in the National Framework of Qualifications therefore course participants will gain certificates in French, Historical Studies, Visual Arts Practice, Tourism Awareness, Local History, Appreciation of Irish Culture, Reception, Work Experience, Archaeology, Manual Handling, Cultural Studies, and Heritage. The programme also offers certificated in First Aid and ECDL.
Along with work experience in the National Print Museum, trainees gain a chance to look for external work experience in another museum or heritage centre. Past trainees have received places in Dublin Castle, St Audeon’s Church, Viking Splash Tours, National Museum of Ireland, Dublinia and IMMA.
